How to Calculate a Car Payment
Your monthly car payment is determined by the loan amount (vehicle price minus down payment and trade-in, plus taxes and fees), the interest rate, and the loan term. Longer loan terms mean lower monthly payments but more total interest paid.
For example, financing $25,000 at 6.5% for 60 months gives you a payment of about $488/month and you'll pay roughly $4,280 in interest over the life of the loan. Choosing a 36-month term instead would raise payments to about $768/month but save you $1,800 in interest.
This calculator provides estimates. Actual loan terms vary by lender, credit score, and vehicle. Always compare offers from multiple lenders before committing.
