How is Body Fat Percentage Calculated?
This calculator uses the U.S. Navy circumference method, which estimates body fat based on height and body measurements rather than weight alone. For women, the formula uses height, neck, waist, and hip measurements. For men, it uses height, neck, and waist.
Unlike BMI, body fat percentage gives a better picture of your actual body composition โ distinguishing between fat mass and lean muscle mass. Two people can have the same BMI but very different body fat percentages depending on their muscle mass.
For the most accurate results, measure your waist at the narrowest point, your hips at the widest point, and your neck just below the larynx. Always consult a healthcare professional for a full body composition assessment.
